It Smells Like Fall

Burning leaves is one of my FAVORITE smells of fall!  But another smell I love and that brings back childhood memories is that of baking apples.  My parents have always had apple trees and when they get a good crop they make up batches of applesause.  Yum!  My favorite kind is the red hot applesauce.  (I still love it when I am visiting and they send home a container!)

Well, if you have followed my blog long enough you know one of the things I think is important as a family is establishing traditions.  I cherish the traditions of my family growing up so I want to create those same memorable moments with my own family now.

Today Cameron, Cade, and I started a new fall tradition and made appleasauce together.  Yum!  Those apples and cinnamon smell soooo good!

Acts of Kindness

Recently, I challenged Cameron and Cade to spread happiness by performing random acts of kindness.  Many of their first acts were for each other.   They also sent notes to relatives, took treats to our neighbor, and made a card for the mail lady.

One morning a rewarding event happened....upon opening the mailbox, we discovered the mail lady wrote back!  She even bought stickers for them!  Why would she do this?  An important lesson was learned about how acts of kindness make people feel!

He's Got the Moves

Our recent entertainment is watching Cade dance.  Where did he learn these moves?  And I love how serious he is!

My Wish Comes True

As a pregnant mother with my first child back in 2003 I started thinking about how important it was to me to have children who were good readers.  I read advice books about how to accomplish this and even read to my baby while still in the womb.  I can remember a college professor, Karen Doubt whom I highly respected giving the advice that you can't start too early.

Well, I was a proud mama when Cameron picked up reading so easily and to this day enjoys reading.  I night hardly goes by that he doesn't voluntarily read before bed.

My heart continues to beam with pride with my second little reader.  Cade is really blossoming in his reading these days.  LOVE IT!
